Oscar J. "Ottie" VanSant, Jr., 87, of 220 North Chelsea Avenue, Atlantic City, NJ, died peacefully Monday, June 21st in Heywood Hospital, Gardner.
Born in Atlantic City, NJ on May 24, 1923, he was the son of the late Oscar J. and Sarah (Berry) VanSant, Sr.
Oscar was a Physicist for the Naval Ordinance employed by the United States Government for many years, retiring in 1980.
He graduated from Atlantic City High School with the Class of 1941, and received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Physics from The Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1952.
Throughout his life, Oscar had a general interest in Anatomy and Physiology. He enjoyed physical exercise, especially swimming and skiing.
Oscar leaves one brother, Somers O. VanSant of Gardner, whom he was visiting at the time of his death. He was predeceased by one sister, Helena Steelman, who died in
1972.
Graveside Services will be held Tuesday, July 6th in the VanSant family plot of Zion Cemetery, Bargaintown, NJ.
