Oscar N. Lehtonen Jr., 83, of Westminster, died unexpectedly Tuesday, November 14, 2023, in his home.
Born in New York City, New York, on January 9, 1940, he was the son of the late Oscar N. Lehtonen Sr. and Mary L. (Laakkonen) Lehtonen. He graduated from Gardner High School with the Class of 1959 and served in the United States Army from 1960 to 1963. Oscar was a laborer employed by the Bent Brothers of Gardner for many years prior to his retirement. He was previously employed by the Heywood-Wakefield Co.
Oscar was history buff, always looking to learn more about the past. He loved reading and traveling to new places. He was an excellent photographer and enjoyed taking photos whenever he could. Oscar’s greatest joy was his family, treasuring the special times together.
Oscar is survived by his brother, Ernest Lehtonen of Westminster; and a cousin, Judith Lindstedt of Fitchburg.
A Calling Hour will be held Monday, November 20, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner, MA.
Graveside Services with Military Honors will be held Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. in Woodside Cemetery, Narrows Road, Westminster, MA.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the Montachusett Veterans Outreach Center, 268 Central Street, Gardner, MA 01440. Please reference in memory of Oscar N. Lehtonen Jr.
