Normand Cyr, 90, of Gardner, died peacefully, Wednesday, June 22, 2022, in Wachusett Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Gardner, after an illness.
Born in Saint-Basile, New Brunswick, Canada, on October 26, 1931, he was the son of the late Edmond and Lillian (Therrien) Cyr. Normand was a lumberjack for many years in Canada before moving to the United States in 1960. In the USA he worked at Heywood Wakefield of Gardner in the Plastic Department for 12-years then worked as an Assembler employed by Digital MFG of Westminster for 15-years prior to his retirement.
He was a parishioner of Annunciation Parish/ Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church of Gardner. He was a member of the Acadien Social Club of Gardner and the Knights of Columbus Bishop Beaven Assembly.
Normand was an avid hunter who loved his prized bear rug. He also enjoyed teaching his lumberjack skills to his grandchildren while feeding them his beloved cowboy steak, which is bologna over an open fire.
Normand is survived by ex-wife, Louise Cyr and their children, Ronald G Cyr of Templeton, Francine R. and husband David Whiting of Templeton, Nilda L Giguere of Florida, Mireille G Reynolds of Florida, Lynne G Cyr of New Hampshire, Maureen A. and husband John Cote of Maine; twelve grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; brothers and sisters, Roger Cyr of St Basile NB, Doria Marquis of St Basile, NB, Bernadette Bois of St Basile, NB, Reginald Cyr and wife Phébée of St Basile, NB, Roland Cyr of St Basile, NB, Micheline Nadeau and Husband Gilbert of St Basile NB, Bertrand Cyr and wife Diane of St Basile NB.
He is predeceased by a son, Steven G Cyr; brother, Fernand (Bea) Cyr of Gardner, and sister, Jeanette Cyr of St Basile NB.
A Celebration of Normand’s Life will be held Friday, July 29, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at the Acadien Social Club, 193 Parker Street, Gardner, MA.
Graveside Services will be held Friday, September 9, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. in St. Basile, NB in Canada.
