Normand R. Caouette, 78, of 235 Oklahoma Drive, Fort Myers, FL died Wednesday, April 27th in The Lakes Adult Community, Fort Myers, FL following a long illness.
Born in Gardner on October 30, 1926, he was the son of Marcel and Elodit (Fournier) Caouette.
He owned and operated Modern Contract Furniture Co. of Gardner for 48 years until retiring in 1993. His company was his love, creating fine furniture for colleges and universities through the country.
He was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. He was a lifetime member of Napoleon Club and was an avid golfer. He was a member of Oak Hill Country Club for several years.
He was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran.
He leaves his wife of 60 years, Maxine V. (Forth) Caouette of Fort Myers, FL; 1 son, James N. Caouette of Fort Myers, FL; a daughter, Sheila A. Jalutkewicz and husband John of Rindge, NH; 1 sister Claire Wheeler of Porland, ME; 2 grandchildren, Jane E. Baxter Gordon of Chicago, IL and Jay W. Jalutkewicz of Atlanta, GA; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by 10 brothers and sisters.
A Memorial Mass will be held Friday, May 20th at 10:00 a.m. in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 166 Cross St., Gardner. Burial of cremains will be in St. John's Cemetery, Gardner.
