Norman "Minzi" Cormier

Norman "Minzi" Cormier, 85, of 61 Lake Street, Gardner, formerly of 126 Marquette Street, Gardner died peacefully Thursday, February 27, 2014 in the Baldwinville Nursing Home, Baldwinville, following a brief illness.
Born in Gardner on November 1, 1928, he was the son of the late Wilfred J. and Marceline (Thibodeau) Cormier.
Norman was a self-employed contractor, who owned and operated Norman "Minzi" Cormier Backhoe and Roto-Rooter for 10 years, retiring in 1990. He was previously employed as a custodian for Shawmut Bank for 23 years.
Norman was a United States Korean War Army Veteran, and received the Parachute Badge.
He was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church and its' League of Sacred Heart. He was also a member of the Acadien Social Club of Gardner, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 747 of Gardner, V.F.W. Post 905 of Gardner, American Legion Post 129 of Gardner, local and national AARP and was a 4th Degree Member of The Knights of Columbus, Bishop Bevan Assembly #396 of Fitchburg.
Norman was predeceased by his wife of 23 years, Leta P. (Tatro) (Hutt) Cormier, who died October 15, 2010.
He leaves one stepson, Douglas W. Hutt and his wife Nicole of Gardner; one stepdaughter, Susan Martin and her husband Steven of Ormond Beach, FL; one brother, Clarence J. Cormier of Gardner; three step-grandchildren, Eric, Todd and Samantha Hutt; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by one sister, Irene C. Therrien.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, March 5th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Gardner.
Calling hours will be Tuesday, March 4th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, or to Our Lady of the Holy Rosary School, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner, MA 01440.
