Nelson J"Nellie" Laperriere

Nelson J. "Nellie" Laperriere, Jr., 84, of 165 Rosewood Drive, Gardner, died peacefully July 9, 2014 in his residence, following a long illness.
Born in Pawtucket, RI on February 19, 1930, he was the son of the late Nelson J. Laperriere, Sr. and Diana E. (Soly) Laperriere.
He graduated from South High School of Worcester with the Class of 1948.
Nelson served in the United States Air Force as a Control Tower Operator during the Korean War.
He was employed by Marlboro Hospital of Marlboro as a fireman/pipefitter for 5 years, retiring in 1996. He was formerly employed by Reed and Prince Manufacturing Company of Worcester and Wright Line Inc. of Worcester.
Nelson was a member of the VFW Post 341 of Worcester.
He enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, watching sports and spending time with his family. He was an avid bowler, and was a member of bowling leagues in both Gardner and Worcester.
Nelson leaves his wife of 33 years, Carole G. (Thivierge) Laperriere of Gardner; one son, Nelson J. Laperriere, III of Brookfield; two daughters, Sheryl K. Means and her husband Robert of East Brookfield and Sharon A. Beaudin and her husband Leonard of Auburn; six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner is handling the arrangements which are private and will be held at the convenience of the family.
