Nazaire J. Richard

Nazaire J. Richard, 85 of 5 Jean Street, Gardner and formerly of 40 Acadia Road, Gardner, died Monday, August 16th in his residence surrounded by family, following a long illness.
Born in Acadieville, N.B. Canada on May 20, 1925, he was the son of the late Edmond and Josephine (Chevarie) Richard.
Prior to retiring in 1980, Nazaire was employed by S. Bent Brothers Company of Gardner for 31 years as an Assistant Lead Person.
Nazaire was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, Gardner. He was a member of the Acadien Social Club, L'Assomption, the Beagle Club, the Gardner Fish and Gun Club and the Templeton Fish and Game Club.
He enjoyed playing pool, walking, square dancing and watching the game show "Wheel of Fortune" on television. Nazaire loved to travel, especially to Canada to visit his relatives. He was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox and the Boston Bruins. Nazaire most enjoyed spending time with his family and attending family barbeques.
He was predeceased by his first wife of 53 years, Rose Eva (Comeau) Richard, who died March 3, 2002.
Nazaire leaves his second wife of six years, Doris (Allain) (Arseneault) Richard of Worcester; one daughter, Marguerite Koch and her husband Bruce of Jaffrey, NH; one brother, Adelard Richard and his wife Genevieve of Lunenburg; eight sisters, Bertha Richard of St. Antoine, N.B. Canada, Eliza Babineau and her husband Albert of Richibucto Village, N.B. Canada, Therese Richard and her husband Livan of Collette, N.B., Canada, Gemma Cormier of Bouctouche, N.B. Canada, Anna Cormier and her husband Leandre of Gardner, Germaine Daigle of Acadieville, N.B. Canada, Florine Richard of Gardner and Marie LeBlanc and her husband Yvon of Templeton; two grandchildren, Shawn Mazerolle of Troy, NH and Lynn Farnum of Richmond, NH; four great-grandchildren, Joshua Mazerolle, Brandon Mazerolle, Justin Farnum and Kayla Farnum; one great-great-grandchild, Chloe Bleau; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He also leaves six step-children; several step-grandchildren and several step-great-great-grandchildren. Nazaire was predeceased by one brother, Irenee Richard and by one sister, Eva Richard.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, August 19th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner. Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery, Gardner.
Calling hours in the funeral home are Wednesday, August 18th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
