Nancy A. Hammond

Nancy A. (Smith) Hammond, 69, of 65 Churchill Road, Templeton, died Monday, November 4, 2013 in Heywood Hospital, Gardner, surrounded by her family following a brief illness.
Born in Gardner on May 2, 1944, she was the daughter of the late William and Eileen (Ahern) Smith.
Nancy graduated from Oakmont Regional High School, Ashburnham with the Class of 1962.
She was employed by Heywood Hospital of Gardner as an EKG Technician for 22 years, retiring in 2006.
Nancy was a member of Holy Cross Church of Templeton, and taught Catechism for many years. She was also a member of AARP.
She enjoyed working in the yard, caring for her flowers and taking trips to Foxwoods. She was a devoted mother who spent her children's early years tending to their activities and volunteering in the various organizations they were involved in; including being a "Den Mother" and a member of the Football Booster Club of Narragansett Regional High School in Templeton. In her later years, she treasured spending time with her grandchildren.
Nancy leaves her husband, whom she celebrated 50 years of marriage with on August 24, 2013, Edward L. Hammond of Templeton; two sons, Edward T. Hammond and his wife Shellie of Phillipston and Jesse J. Hammond and his wife Aimee of Westminster; one daughter, Debra A. Pond and her husband Johann of Gardner; two brothers, Michael Smith and his wife Linda of Florida and Robert Smith and his wife Ann of Templeton; seven grandchildren, E.J. Hammond, Jacob W. Hammond, Gabrielle M. Hammond, Julia M. Hammond, Nathan T. Hammond, Dillon T. Hammond and Jordan E. Pond; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her brother, Terry Smith.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, November 8th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Holy Cross Church, Lake Avenue East Templeton. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Templeton.
Calling hours will be Thursday, November 7th from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
