Nancy A. (Brigham) Hamel, 76, of Gardner, died peacefully Tuesday, October 12, 2021, in UMass Memorial HealthAlliance Hospital, Leominster, after an illness.
Born in Gardner on November 7, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Orrin and Alice (Adamson) Brigham. She graduated from Oakmont Regional High School with the Class of 1962. Nancy was a Homecare Attendant employed by Independent Home Care for several years until her retirement in 2007. She was previously employed by Vincent’s Supermarket, Westminster Pharmacy and IGA of Gardner.
Nancy was a member of the Deep Sea Club, West End Beagle Club and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 747, all of Gardner. She loved being outdoors tending to her flowers, taking trips to the ocean and boating. But most importantly Nancy loved, and cherished time spent with her family, especially her grandson.
Nancy is survived by her grandson, Ethan John Hamel; a sister, Sally Swanson of Gardner; a brother Walter O. Brigham and his wife Mary of Westminster; a step-grandchild, Zoie Beddall; a step-great-grandchild, Jayce; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was predeceased by her husband of 53-years, John A.L. Hamel, who died on May 22, 2020; a daughter, Amy Hamel; a son, Eric Hamel; and a sister, Eleanor Burpee.
Graveside Services will be held Thursday, October 14, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. in Woodside Cemetery, Narrows Road, Westminster, MA.
