Naida J. (Blanchard) Knox, 72, of Gardner, died peacefully Sunday, July 23, 2017 in Cape Cod Hospital of Hyannis, following a brief illness.
Born in Portland, OR on April 2, 1945, she was the daughter of the late George and Antoinette "Marie" (Puccio) Blanchard.
Naida graduated from Brockton High School with the Class of 1963. She attended MA College of Art in Boston, and attained her Art Professional Degree from Mount Wachusett Community College of Gardner.
She was a bank teller employed by Colonial Co-Operative Bank of Gardner for several years, prior to retiring in 2007.
Naida was a member of the Princeton Portrait Society, the Circle of Artists in Westminster, the Gardner Area League of Artists and was past President of the Gardner Artists Society. She was also a member of the 4000 Club, climbing all forty eight 4000ft. peaks in NH.
Naida was an accomplished artist, who painted with both oil and water colors. She taught figure drawing classes at Mount Wachusett Community College, and was an avid photographer. Naida was a nature enthusiast, who loved spending time hiking, gardening, bicycling, golfing and kayaking. She was an active member of the MWCC Fitness and Wellness Center, and loved yoga.
Naida leaves her husband of 27 years, Richard T. Knox of Gardner; two daughters, Laura King and her husband Thomas of Shrewsbury, and Jennifer Marshall and her husband John of Paxton; one brother, Dennis Blanchard and his wife Julia of Bridgewater, MA; one sister, Doreen Tomlinson of Bakersfield, CA; five grandchildren, Robin King, Karin Murray, Sean King, Eve King and Peyton Marshall; two great-grandchildren, Noah and Eleanor Murray; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her daughter Leanne Ryba who died in 1985.
A Memorial Service and 'Celebration of Life' will be held Sunday, August 6th at 1:00 p.m. at the Old Mill Restaurant, 69 State Road East, Westminster.
