Muriel C. Fontaine

November 5, 1922 — January 21, 2005

Muriel C. (Martineau) Fontaine, 82, of 32 Hospital Hill Rd., Gardner and formerly of 58 Lindell Ave., Leominster, died Friday, January 21st in Wachusett Manor Nursing Home, Gardner, following an illness.
Born in Leominster on November 5, 1922, she was the daughter of Leon and Blandine (Beland) Martineau.
She was a seamstress and homemaker last employed by Cluet-Peabody Co. of Leominster for 20 years, retiring in 1987. She was previously employed by Paragon Plastics of Leominster for 10 years.
Mrs. Fontaine was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church. She was an expert seamstress, avid reader and enjoyed cooking and traveling. Mrs. Fontaine was the Matriarch of her family.
Her husband of 44 years, Raymond L. Fontaine, died in 1985.
She leaves 3 sons, Dr. John A. Fontaine and wife Sandra of Ashburnham, Mark W. Fontaine and wife Diane of Athol, Matthew J. Fontaine of Leominster; 2 daughters, Linda L. Cederblom and husband Erik of San Rafael, CA, Suzanne C. Carpentier and husband Dr. Paul Carpentier of Gardner; 1 brother, Roland "Pete" Martineau and loving sister-in-law Lucille of Harvard, 2 loving sisters-in-law Anne Martineau of Revere and Joan Fontaine of Fitchburg; 13 grandchildren, Leif and Lauren Cederblom, Sarah Shepard, Martin, Nathan, Danielle, Alan, Amy and Emily Fontaine, Andrew, Peter, Michael and Mark Carpentier; a dear family friend, Ethel Smith of Fitchburg; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a brother, Oliver "Babe" Martineau of Revere.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 26th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols St., Gardner with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols St., Gardner. Burial will be in St. Cecilia's Cemetery, Leominster.
Calling hours at the funeral home are Tuesday, January 25th from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
