Mitchell W. "Mikei¿½ Walendziak, 84, of 4 Chapman Park, Gardner, died Monday, May 31st in Heywood Hospital, Gardner, following an illness.
Born in Gardner on November 3, 1919, he was the son of Alexander
and Blanche (Zebrowski) Walendziak.
He was a field engineer employed by Massachusetts Electric for 33 years, retiring in 1981.
He was a 1937 graduate of Gardner High School and was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church. From 1952 to 1974 he was a call firefighter for the City of Gardner and was a lifetime member of the PACC. He was a loyal Democrat and enjoyed golfing, fishing and skiing.
Mr. Walendziak was a proud World War II U.S. Navy veteran and served in the Maritime Service.
He leaves his wife of 53 years, Marian A. (Trinque) Walendziak of Gardner; 2 sons, James M. Walendziak of Canton, GA and Richard W. Walendziak and his wife Joan of West Boylston; 1 daughter, Janice M. Gearan and her husband Jay of Gardner; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was a loving grandfather to his 7 grandchildren, Jack and Michael Gearan, Nicholas, Ashleigh, Alex, Ross, and Ali Walendziak. He was predeceased by 2 brothers, William and Edmund Walendziak.
Funeral services will be held Friday, June 4th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols St., Gardner with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols St., Gardner. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Gardner.
Calling hours at the funeral home are Thursday, June 3rd, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
