Michael W. "Mickey" Nicholson, 83, who resided at 16 Laurel Street, Gardner since 1956, died peacefully Monday, April 25, 2011 in Heywood Hospital, Gardner surrounded by his family, following a brief illness.
Born in Gardner on May 15, 1927, he was the son of the late Daniel and Anne (McNeil) Nicholson.
Michael was employed by Massachusetts Electric Company of Gardner as a Line Supervisor for 40 years, retiring in 1987.
He graduated from Gardner High School with the Class of 1945.
Michael was a member of Holy Spirit Church, Gardner.
He was a United States WWII Army Veteran, and received the WWII Victory Medal.
Michael enjoyed woodworking and was an avid sports fan, especially of the University of Notre Dame Fighting Irish Football Team. He most enjoyed spending time with his family.
He leaves his wife of 56 years, Irene (Goguen) Nicholson of Gardner; two sons, Mark M. Nicholson and his wife Maureen of Gardner and James K. Nicholson and his wife Martha of Gardner; two daughters, Teresa M. Dellasanta and her husband James of Princeton and Donna G. Gendron and her husband Mark of Manchester, NH; one brother, Daniel W. Nicholson and his wife Maria of Chestnut Hill, NY; two sisters-in-law, Helen Nicholson of Ingonish, NS, Canada and Elizabeth Nicholson of San Luis Obispo, CA; seven grandchildren, Megan Nicholson, Mary Nicholson, Michael Nicholson and Jaclyn Nicholson all of Gardner, Christopher Gendron and Mikayla Gendron of Manchester, NH and Patrick Delasanta of Princeton; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by two brothers, John J. and Martin J. Nicholson and by one sister, Margaret A. Nicholson.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, April 29th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. Holy Spirit Church, 15 Lovewell Street, Gardner. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Gardner.
A calling hour in the funeral home will be Friday, April 29th from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
