Michael F. Gilhooly, 49, of Westminster, died peacefully Friday, June 10, 2022, in UMass Memorial Medical Center—University Campus, Worcester.
Born in Thailand on November 7, 1972, he was the son of Phillip Gilhooly. He graduated from Gardner High School with the Class of 1991. Mike was a United States Air Force Persian Gulf War Veteran serving from 1993 to 1997, where he received the Air Force Training Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, Air Force Organizational Excellence Award, and the Good Conduct Medal. He was a Dental Technician employed by Watkins Dental of Fitchburg for many years.
Mike loved being in nature, fishing, hiking, and riding his bike. He enjoyed playing darts and was an avid fan of his Boston Red Sox and Celtics, and New England Patriots. Mike loved his cats especially his former cat, Sam.
Michael is survived by his sister, Lisa Salame and her husband Nathan Lajoie of Winchendon; two nephews and a niece, Brendan Robichaud, Mena, and Jace Salame; an uncle, Thomas Gilhooly and his wife Deb of Florida, and two cousins, Molly and Sean Kilcoyne.
Graveside Services with Full Military Honors will be held Wednesday, June 29, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen Street, Winchendon, MA.
