Michael P. Birt, 52, of 47 Causeway Road, Swanzey, NH died unexpectedly Saturday, January 8th in his residence.
Born in Gardner on October 16, 1952, he was the son of the late Pauline T. (Morin) Birt.
At the time of his death he was a night supervisor in the shipping department at Knappe & Koester, Inc. of Keene where he had worked for several years.
He graduated from Sacred Heart School, graduated from Gardner High School in 1970 and studied welding at Worcester Trade School.
He was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Gardner. He was a musician and played bass guitar in several bands, Blue Souls, Black Diamond and Ruff Cutt. He had a pilot's license and flew mostly in the Gardner area from the Gardner airport.
He leaves 2 daughters, Michelle E. Birt of Los Angeles, Ca and Marty Rae Birt of Bennington, NH; his loving father and stepmother, James W. "Pat" Birt and Donna L. (Sumner) Birt of Peterborough, NH; 2 sisters, Carleen A. Archambeault and husband Mark of Orange, Sharon M. Sarcinelli and husband William of Gardner; his former wife, Aline (Therreault) Birt of Bennington, NH; several aunts, uncles, several nieces, 1 nephew and several cousins.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 15th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols St., Gardner with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 166 Cross St., Gardner. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Gardner.
A calling hour at the funeral home will be Saturday, January 15th from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 6 Strathmore Rd., Natick, MA 01760.
