Melvin J. "Smokey" Lawson, 64, of Gardner, died peacefully, Wednesday, August 10, 2016 in Heywood Hospital of Gardner.
Melvin was born in Lowell on April 7, 1952, the son of the late Virgil and Nora (Casey) Lawson.
He graduated from Westford Academy with the Class of 1970.
Melvin was employed for several years by Westford Anodizing Company as a metal plater. He was previously a truck driver for Bekins Moving Company of Weymouth.
Melvin enjoyed fishing, playing cards and poker. He was an avid fan of the Boston Bruins and the Boston Red Sox. He loved animals, especially cats and dogs. Melvin loved spending time socializing with family and friends, and his brothers were always very important to him.
Melvin leaves two brothers Mark Lawson and fiancé Robin Williams of Ormond Beach, FL and Michael Lawson; two sisters, Madeline Lawson of Boston and Mary Gardner of Hyannis, MA; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by two brothers, Marshall and Marty Lawson; and by one sister, Marlene Collins; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral Services will be private and held at the convenience of family.
There are no calling hours.
