Maurice "Moe" Vautour, 53, of Gardner, was called to the Lord on Monday, June 5, 2017.
He was born November 6, 1963, the son of the late Gerard F. Vautour and Rose S. (Aucoin) Vautour. He graduated from Gardner High School with the Class of 1982, and attended Mount Wachusett Community College of Gardner.
Moe was employed by Caraustar Mills of Fitchburg as a weigh scale attendant for ten years. He previously worked with developmentally delayed clients as a security officer for many years.
Moe was a devoted Catholic who was a member of Annunciation Parish/Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church of Gardner. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #2536 of Otter River and the Acadien Social Club of Gardner.
He was involved in youth ministry at his local churches, where he taught CCD for St. Edward the Confessor Church of Westminster and Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Parish in Gardner for over 30 years. He served on the SEARCH Team for the Diocese of Worcester. Moe passed the collection basket at Holy Rosary Church weekly and volunteered at both the spring and fall fairs. He served on the security team at the Steubenville Retreats at La Salette Shrine in Attleboro, MA. He was an avid sports fan who loved the New England Patriots and the Boston Red Sox. Moe also cherished time spent with his family. Moe will be remembered for his smile, his laugh, his sense of humor, and his generosity of time and service.
He leaves his wife, Ann (Miller) Vautour of Gardner; one son, Jared Gerard Vautour of Hubbardston; one daughter, Mary Rose Vautour of Hubbardston; one brother, Albert Vautour and his wife Mary of Hopedale; six sisters, Francine Pera and her husband Eric of Gardner, Marie Vautour of Falmouth, Helene Vautour of Gardner, Therese Vautour of Groveland, Geraldine Vautour of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Christine Vautour-Burke and her husband Michael of Worcester; his step-mother Jeanine (Bernard) Vautour of Gardner; and several aunts, nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews and cousins. He also leaves many loyal and committed friends, especially Robert Bettez and Deane Cormier, both of Gardner, who were like brothers to him.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, June 10th from Boucher Funeral Home Inc., 110 Nichols St. Gardner with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Annunciation Parish/Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols St. Gardner. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, Gardner.
Calling hours will be held Friday, June 9th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
