Mary Ann (Pockevicius) Roy, 75, of Gardner, died peacefully Tuesday, April 26, 2016 in UMASS Memorial Medical Center, 55 Lake Avenue, Worcester, surrounded by her family.
Born in Worcester on August 15, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Josephine (Tamulevich) Pockevicius.
Mary Ann graduated from Worcester Commerce High School with the Class of 1958. She later attended Carter Institute of Laboratory Technology of Boston.
Mary Ann was employed by the City of Gardner as a Paraprofessional at Elm Street School for 30 years, retiring in 2004. She was previously employed by Heywood Hospital of Gardner as a Medical Technician.
She was a member of Annunciation Parish/Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church of Gardner. Mary Ann was also a member of the Gardner Senior Center and the Gardner Chapter of AARP.
She enjoyed doing arts and crafts, going on cruises and bird watching. She was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. She enjoyed watching her favorite television shows, 'Amazing Race' and 'Survivor'. Mary Ann treasured spending time with her grandchildren.
She leaves her husband of 55 years, James R. Roy of Gardner; two daughters, Tracey A. Roy of Mechanicsburg, PA and Terrie M. Berlo and her husband James of Brentwood, NH; two sisters, Eugene Lukason and her husband John of Worcester and Ruth Pockevicius of Worcester; three grandchildren, John Charles "Jack" Berlo and his fiancé Lauren Rocheleau, Heather Berlo and Dominic Mirabelle; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, April 29th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Annunciation Parish/Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner. Burial will be in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen Street, Gardner.
A calling hour will be held Friday, April 29th from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 1463 Highland Avenue, Cheshire, CT 06410 or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
