Mary I Richard

Mary Irene (Flematti) (Schmidt) Richard, 91, of 51 Hospital Rd., Baldwinville, and formerly of 61 Lake St., Gardner, died peacefully Saturday, September 22nd in the Baldwinville Nursing Home following a long illness.
Born in Athol on June 15, 1916, she was the daughter of Antonio and Maria (Rainoldi) Flematti.
Mary was a general office worker employed by the former Union Twist Drill Co. of Athol for many years until retiring in 1982.
She was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, the Gardner Golden Agers and A.A.R.P.
Mrs. Richard was an excellent housekeeper and cook and was a loyal Boston Red Sox fan. She liked all styles of dancing and was known to be a 'party animal.' She was proud of her 1957 Ford convertible and enjoyed traveling. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and had a special love for her dog, Duffy.
Her husband Alfred J. Richard died in 1994. Her first husband, Carl G. Schmidt died in 1946.
She leaves 1 son, Carl A. Schmidt and his wife Carol of Oxford, ME; 2 daughters, Marie J. Hache of Athol, Donna A. Markofsky and her husband Edward J. Markofsky Jr. of Westminster; 1 stepdaughter, Barbara Stanley of E. Templeton; 3 sisters, Rosetta Joly and her husband Francis of Athol, Theresa Burgess of Royalston, Rita Rose Fogg of Athol; ; 4 grandchildren, Norbert J. Hache Jr., Kevin S. Hache, Melissa D. McDonald and Carl A. Schmidt Jr.; 2 step-grandchildren; 9 great-greatgrandchildren, 3 step-great-greatgrandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by 2 grandchildren, Glenn McDonald who died in 1987 and Carl N. Hache who died in 1992, 2 brothers, Nicholas A. and John Flematti, 1 brother-in-law, Edgar J. Richard, 2 sisters, Bruna H. Bowers and Anna Rousseau and a sister-in-law Irene M. Robillard.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 26th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols St., Gardner with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols St., Gardner. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Gardner.
Calling hours at the funeral home are Tuesday, September 25th from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
