Mary Marguerite Alma Richard, 85, of 32 Hospital Hill Rd., Gardner, and formerly of 206 Central St., Gardner, died peacefully Friday, February 12th in Wachusett Manor Nursing Home, Gardner, surrounded by her family.
Born in Rumford, ME on June 9, 1924, she was the daughter of Auguste and Alminie (Gallant) Richard.
Alma was a registered nurse employed at the Veterans Hospital of Rocky Hill, CT for 24 years until retiring in 1986. She was formerly a nurse at Hartford Hospital, Hartford, CT for 26 years.
She was a 1942 graduate of Gardner High School and received her Registered Nurse degree from the Burbank School of Nursing in 1947.
Alma was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, Gardner, and the Wethersfield Professional Nurses Association of Rocky Hill, CT.
She was a fan of old-time television programs such as I Love Lucy, The Carol Burnett Show and The Red Skelton Show. Alma especially liked watching PBS programs. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, knitting, listening to music, and creating needlepoint and crewel pieces.
She leaves 2 brothers, Alfred A. Richard of Cupertino, CA, Robert J. Richard of Gardner; 3 sisters, Eva M. Gemborys and her husband Eugene, Alfreda M. Bergeron and her husband Camille, Cecilia M. Richard all of Gardner; several nieces, nephews, cousins and a special cousin, Eva Duguay of Gardner. She also leaves a very special friend, Angie Sabettini of Gardner.
Funeral services will be held Monday, February 15th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols St., Gardner with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols St., Gardner. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Gardner, at a later date.
Calling hours at the funeral home will be Monday, February 15th from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
