Mary M. (Fortier) LaBonte, 95, of 59 Eastwood Circle, Gardner, and formerly of 38 Gardner Road, Baldwinville for 70 years, died peacefully, Thursday, October 8th in Legend Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Gardner, surrounded by her family.
She was born in Southbridge, MA on April 23, 1914, the daughter of the late Amede and Elize (Berthiaume) Fortier.
Prior to retiring in 1976, Mary was a Nurses Aide for several years, employed by Open Arms Nursing Home in Winchendon. She previously was employed at various local wood factories.
Mary enjoyed fresh water fishing, doing puzzles, watching television, quilting and crocheting. She loved to travel and was an avid Boston Red Sox fan.
Mary was predeceased by her husband of 37 years, Joseph L. LaBonte, who died in 1967.
She leaves five sons, Richard LaBonte and his wife Terry of Baldwinville, Wilfred LaBonte of Venice Beach, FL, Louis LaBonte of Chitina, Alaska, Ronald LaBonte and his wife Pauline of Beverly and Donald LaBonte of Orange; seven daughters, Olive Nauman of North Conway, NH, Florence Blake and her husband Roy of Concord, MA, Mary Perini of Baldwinville, Beatrice Hartley and her husband Donald of Gardner, Barbara Poirier and her husband Michael of Westminster, Beverly O'Donell and her husband James of Templeton and Shirley L'Homme and her husband Dennis of Templeton; one sister-in-law, Ella Fortier of Charlton who is 102 years old; 36 grandchildren, 69 great-grandchildren and 37 great-great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by two sons, Joseph LaBonte and Leo LaBonte; three daughters, Lorraine Lashua, Alice LaBonte and Gertrude LaBonte; and by two brothers, Wilfred Fortier and Louis Fortier.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 13th at 1:00 p.m. in the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Baldwinville.
Calling hours in the funeral home will be Monday, October 12th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
