Mary M. (LeBlanc) Cormier, 89, of Applewood Home for Elders, Athol, formerly of Forest Manor Rest Home, S. Gardner, died Saturday, December 17, 2011 in Athol Memorial Hospital, Athol.
Born in Moncton, N.B., Canada on November 25, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Jude and Aldora (Gaudet) LeBlanc.
Mary was a professional seamstress, both in Canada and in Gardner. Years ago she was employed by Fontaine Brothers and Thayer Manufacturing Co., both of Gardner, and prior to moving to the United States she was employed in the sales department of Singer Sewing Machine Co. in Canada.
Mary was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church in Gardner.
Throughout her life she was an enthusiastic crafts maker and frequent letter correspondent to friends and family. She loved to play Bingo, and always seemed to win. Mary most enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She leaves one son, John J. Cormier and his wife Mary of Gardner and Delray Beach, FL; one daughter, Jacqueline M. Cormier of San Rafael, CA; two grandchildren, Lynn (Cormier) Sayarath and her husband Sommay, and Amy (Cormier) Rameau and her husband Daniel; four great-grandchildren, Daniel Rameau, Jr, Drew Rameau, Jaiden Sayarath and Tai Sayarath; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Mary was predeceased by her infant daughter, Margaret Cormier; five brothers, Henri, Edgar, Gerald, Camille and John LeBlanc; and by one sister, Rita McKenzie.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, December 21st from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Gardner.
A calling hour in the funeral home will be Wednesday, December 21st from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
