Mary J Boucher

Mary J. (Richard) Boucher, 95, of 27 South School Street, Ashburnham, formerly of 26 Leo Drive, Gardner, died peacefully Thursday, November 19, 2015 in The Highlands of Fitchburg, surrounded by her family, following a brief illness.
Born in Woodland, Maine on December 8, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Jude and Exilda (Cormier) Richard.
Mary received her GED from Mount Wachusett Community College of Gardner in 1995, and was honored to have given a speech during the ceremony.
She was employed by the City of Gardner in the school cafeteria of Elm Street School for seven years, retiring in 1993. She was previously employed by GEM Crib and Cradle Company of Gardner, Mead Container Corporation and the Old Mill Restaurant of Westminster.
She was a member of Annunciation Parish/Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church of Gardner, and its' Ladies of St. Anne Society and the Cursillo Movement. Mary volunteered for the church for many years and in the library of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary School.
She was a caregiver, avid Bingo player and loved to socialize and travel. Mary was a devout Catholic who enjoyed watching Mass on television. She was a member of the local chapter of AARP and the Gardner Golden Agers.
Mary was predeceased by her husband of 42 years, Raymond W. Boucher, who died in 1980.
She leaves one son, Larry D. Boucher and his wife Helen of Millis; three daughters, Joanne Boucher-Mock and her husband Dr. Wellington Mock of Bartlett, TN, Marie-Jane Handy and her husband Walter of Ashburnham and Susan T. Irr and her husband Frank of Millbury; two brothers, Ernest Richard and his wife Evangeline of Gardner and Joseph Oscar Richard of Otter River; six grandchildren, Concetta Trifone, Dillon P. Handy, Andrew Boucher, Phillip Boucher, Sarah Irr and Elizabeth Irr; one great-grandchild, Kyrah Ann Bigwood; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by two brothers, Zoel Richard and Omer J. Richard; and one sister, Noella Arsenault.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, November 25th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Gardner.
Calling hours will be held Tuesday, November 24th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
