Mary Lydia"Lydia" Arsenault

February 17, 1921 — January 5, 2013

Mary "Lydia" (Parry) (O'Brien) Arsenault, 91, of 6 Beth Avenue, Leominster and formerly of Athol, Gardner and Middleboro, died Saturday, January 5, 2013 in Tufts Medical Center, Boston, surrounded by her family following a brief illness.
Born in Llandudno, Wales on February 17, 1921, she was the daughter of the late John and Sophia (Evans) Parry, and moved to the United States in 1946.
After graduating from high school, Lydia served two years in the British Army during WWII.
She was a member of the Bread of Life Church in Westminster, and was in Minstrel Shows in Athol and at St. Joseph's Church in the Cleghorn section of Fitchburg. Lydia was also a Life Member of the Golden Agers of Gardner, the American Legion, Cleghorn Post 429 of Fitchburg and the Eastwood Club of Fitchburg.
Lydia and her husband Camille taught line dancing at various Senior Centers for many years, and were recognized by the House of Representatives in MA for their service to the Senior community by being presented a Certificate. Lydia most enjoyed spending time with her family.
She was predeceased by her first husband of 28 years, Daniel O'Brien and by her second husband of 29 years, Camille Arsenault who died August 1, 2011.
Lydia leaves two sons, John J. O'Brien and his wife Linda of Middleboro and Daniel A. O'Brien, Jr and his wife Donna of Gardner; one daughter, Carol M. Ashworth and her husband James C. of Lutz, FL; one step-daughter, Pauline Richard of Fitchburg; seven grandchildren, John O'Brien II, Michael O'Brien, James Ashworth II, Lindsay Ashworth-George, Kelly O'Brien, Brian Richard and Lori Wagodi; fourteen great-grandchildren, and one niece, Sophia Morris of Wales. She was predeceased by two sisters, Alice Carroll and Doris Carroll.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, January 10th at 11:00 a.m. in the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner. Pastor Gary Collette of the Bread of Life Church will officiate. Burial in St. Mary's Cemetery, Middleboro will be private.
Calling hours will be held Wednesday, January 9th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
