Martha I. (Furbush) Griczika, 73, of 333 West Broadway, Gardner, where she has lived since 1959, died Wednesday, October 12th in Heywood Hospital, Gardner, shortly after being stricken ill at home.
Born on April 11, 1932, she was the daughter of Joseph E. and Inez (Russell) Furbush.
She was an office clerk employed by New England Telephone & Telegraph for 27 years until retiring in 1995.
Mrs. Griczika was a 1950 graduate of Templeton High School and attended Mount Wachusett Community College.
She was a member of St. Joseph's Church. She enjoyed polka dancing and watching the Boston Red Sox, New York Giants and the Green Bay Packers. She loved her grandchildren and took much pleasure in attending all of their activities. She also loved her dog, 'Daisy'. Mrs. Griczika donated many of her knitted articles of clothing to her family and community organizations.
She leaves her husband of 53 years, Bronie F. Griczika of Gardner; 1 son, F. Joseph Griczika and wife Elizabeth of Barre; 2 daughters, Paula M. Dabuliewicz and husband Thomas of Winchendon, Marie C. Zbikowski and husband Paul of Ashburnham; 7 grandchildren, Shauna L., Jake M., Krystal, Sadie J. Zbikowski, Michelle C., Michael J., and Mallory N. Griczika; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a daughter, Kathryn A. Griczika of Gardner who died in 1969 and a brother, Edwin Furbush of Templeton who died in 1954.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 15th @ 12:30 p.m. in the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols St., Gardner. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Gardner.
Calling hours at the funeral home are Saturday, October 15th from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
