Mark William Savoie

Mark William Savoie, 48, of 2 S. Main Street, Ashburnham, died Monday, June 8th in the Fisher Hospice Home, Amherst, following a struggle with cancer.

Born in Gardner on January 2, 1961, he was the son of Clarence R. and Helen A. (Augusto) Savoie of Ashburnham, MA.

He was a Master Sergeant in the United States Air Force, serving for 23 years, and received the Air Force Commendation Medal with 2 devices, Air Force Achievement Medal with 1 device, Meritorious Service Medal, NCO Professional Military Education Ribbon with 2 devices, Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal with 1 device, Air Force Overseas Long Tour Ribbon with 1 device, Southwest Asia Service Medal with 1 device, Air Force Training Ribbon, Air Force Longevity Service Award with 4 devices, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with Valor and with 6 devices and the Air Force Good Conduct Medal with 6 devices. Mark retired from the United States Air Force in 2006.

Mark was a 1979 graduate of Oakmont High School, Ashburnham. He attended Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Worcester.

Mark enjoyed reading and working with electronics.

Besides his parents he leaves, one brother, Brian M. Savoie and his wife Sarah of Gardner; one sister, Cynthia A. Boucher and her husband John of Ashburnham; several aunts, uncles, two nieces, three nephews and several cousins.

Funeral services will be held Friday, June 12th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner with a Committal Service and Burial in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallan Road, Winchendon.

A calling hour in the funeral home will be Friday, June 12th from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 a.m.
