Mark Anthony Fiedler, 88, of Hubbardston, died peacefully on Monday, April 10, 2023, at the Rose Monahan Hospice House, Worcester, after a period of declining health.
Born in Janesville, Wisconsin, on April 1, 1935, he was the son of the late Urban and Mabel (Bartlett) Fiedler. Mark graduated from St. Norbert College with a Bachelor of Arts in English in 1957. He served briefly in the United States Army and Reserves and loved to tell the story of how he parachuted from a plane during a reserve mission. Mark was a credit manager employed by Westinghouse Electric Supply and McKesson Medical Supplies for many years prior to his retirement in 1994.
Mark was a parishioner of Annunciation Parish of Gardner and attended Holy Spirit Church. While living in Exton, Pennsylvania, for 44 years, he was actively involved in Saints Phillip and James Parish, where he helped to lead Bible studies, run spiritual enrichment programs, and serve in numerous volunteer roles. He was an avid reader of history, biographies, and current events, and his encyclopedic knowledge made him a frequent winner of family trivia games. As part of his love for books, he volunteered for over 4000 hours at the Chester County Library. Mark was also a devoted fan of the Green Bay Packers and enjoyed playing and watching a variety of sports – everything from golf to March Madness to baseball. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife, exploring many places together throughout the years, including Germany, Ireland, and Switzerland, as well as beautiful sites in the United States. Mark’s greatest joy, however, was his family, treasuring the deep conversations, jokes, game nights, trips, and milestones they shared together. He was devoted to his wife and took an active part in the lives of his children and grandchildren.
Mark is survived by his wife of 64 years, Barbara J. (Parzych) Fiedler of Hubbardston; a son, Steven Fiedler and his wife Betsy of Leominster; a daughter, Kathleen Rossell and her husband Tony of Fairfax, VA; six grandchildren, Matthew Fiedler and his wife Becky, Alex Fiedler and his wife Cassandra, Nathaniel Fiedler, Joseph Rossell and his wife Christina, Claire Cahill and her husband TJ, and Benjamin Rossell and his wife Madison; seven great-grandchildren, and a brother, Jay Fiedler of Tucson, AZ.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, April 24, 2023, with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Annunciation Parish at Holy Spirit Church, 50 Lovewell Street, Gardner, MA. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Worcester Road, Hubbardston, MA.
