Marion M. (Gauthier) Richards, 93, of 78 Champagne Rd., Gardner, died peacefully Wednesday, February 16th in Heywood Hospital following a brief illness.
Born in Baldwinville on March 15, 1917, she was the daughter of Andrew and Marie (Sentabar) Gauthier.
She was an order clerk last employed at Custom & Modern Mfg. Co. for 17 years until retiring in 1974. She was previously employed by Priscilla's Candy Shop of Gardner from 1943 to 1955. She was also previously employed by the former Florence Stove Co. until 1943.
Marion was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. She was a lifetime member of American Legion Women's Auxiliary Post 129 of Gardner. She was a member of the Gardner Golden Agers and A.A.R.P.. Marion was a volunteer at the former Eastwood Pines Nursing Home in Gardner and also volunteered at Heywood Hospital. She enjoyed playing cards, especially pitch, doing word search puzzles and watching Mass on television.
Marion was predeceased by her husband of 47 years, Renie W. Richards who died in 1983.
She leaves a daughter, Judith Ann LaBatt and her husband Claude of Gardner; 2 sisters, Jeannette Olivari of Gardner and Rindge, NH, Alberta Zifcak and her husband Edward of Templeton; 3 great-grandchildren, Thomas LaBatt and his wife Kasia of Hillsborough, NH, Craig LaBatt and his wife Michelle of Fort Polk, LA and Brittany LaBatt of Hillsborough, NH; 2 great-greatgrandchildren, Ava LaBatt of Fort Polk, LA and Laura LaBatt of Hillsborough, NH; several nieces, nephews, cousins, great-nieces, and great-nephews. She was predeceased by 2 brothers, David and Francis Gauthier and a grandson, Brian K. LaBatt.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 22nd from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols St., Gardner, with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 166 Cross St., Gardner. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Gardner, at a later date.
A calling hour at the funeral home will be Tuesday, February 22nd from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
