Marie Claire (Richard) Savoie, 96, of 85 Beaumont Drive, Northbridge, and formerly of 125 Connors St., Gardner, died peacefully Saturday, June 14th in the Beaumont Nursing Home, Northbridge. She lived in Gardner the past 59 years.
Born in St. Norbert, NB, Canada on March 14, 1912, she was the daughter of Simeon and Celeste (Richard) Richard.
She was a machine operator employed by the former Sauquoit Paper Company of Gardner until retiring in 1960.
She was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church and its Ladies of St. Anne Society. She was also a member of the Gardner Golden Agers and A.A.R.P.
Marie had an enormous zest for life with an infectious sense of humor, especially when telling jokes. She enjoyed music, dancing, singing and traveling to her cottage in Bouctouche Bay, NB, Canada.
Her husband of 34 years, Frederick Savoie, died in 1978.
She leaves two nieces, Rena Richard of of Upton and Anne Richard of Bremerton, WA; several greatnieces and greatnephews. She was predeceased by 2 brothers, Maxime and Leonard Richard and 2 sisters, Josephine Deltenre and Edmee Richard.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 18th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols St., Gardner, with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols St., Gardner, MA 01440. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Gardner.
Calling hours at the funeral home are Tuesday, June 17th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
