Marie Geraldine (Poirier) Reilly, 90, of 32 Hospital Rd., Gardner and formerly of 152 High St., Gardner, died Wednesday, March 10th in Wachusett Manor Nursing Home, Gardner, following an illness.
Born in Gardner on May 26, 1913, she was the daughter of Wilfred and Sylvia (Allain) Poirier.
She was employed by Worcester State Hospital, Worcester, retiring several years ago and was previously employed as a Charge Attendant at the Gardner State Hospital of Gardner.
She was a member of Holy Spirit Church. She was a member of Gardner A.A.R.P.
Mrs. Reilly enjoyed needlepoint, traveling, music and especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be missed dearly by her family.
Her husband of 37 years, John D. Reilly, died in 1967.
She leaves a son, John P. Reilly and his wife, Ruth of Camano Island, Washington; a daughter, Alanna M. Prentice and her husband, David of Gardner; 2 brothers, Ernest Poirier and Edward Poirier both of Gardner; 2 sisters, Rachel Healey and Lorraine Trinque both of Gardner; 5 grandchildren, Hillary and Evan Prentice, Jonathan Horne, Keith and Kirt Reilly; 4 great-grandchildren, Peter, Jessica, Heather Reilly and Ava Horne; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She also leaves a very special niece, Joan Szoc of Gardner. She was predeceased by a son, Thomas M. Reilly of Gardner who died in 1947 and 3 bothers, Henry, Gerald and Clarence Poirier.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 12th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols St., Gardner with a Mass at 10:30 a.m. in Holy Spirit Church, 50 Lovewell St., Gardner. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Gardner.
Calling hours at the funeral home are Thursday, March 11th, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
