Marie Maillet

Marie (Richard) Maillet, 102, of Gardner, died peacefully Monday, May 13, 2019 in her home with her family by her side. She was born in St. Paul, N.B. Canada on June 15, 1916, daughter of the late Edmond and Mathilde (Boucher) Richard.  Marie was educated in Canada.  She was employed for many years by the former Collier-Keyworth Company of Gardner as a stitcher, retiring in 1981.

Marie was a member of Annunciation Parish/Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church of Gardner and its Ladies of St. Anne Society. She was also a former member of the Gardner Golden Agers.

Marie lived her life to the fullest. She volunteered for many years at the annual Holy Rosary Bazaar, spending most of her time in the “Poutine Factory”.  She was a devout Catholic who watched Mass on television and prayed the Rosary daily. She loved traveling with her husband, her favorite trip was to Rome where she saw Pope Paul II. She loved crafts, knitting, crocheting and quilting. Over the years she had made more than 200 quilts for her family and friends. Marie loved spending quality time with her family, especially playing cards with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

            Marie was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Eric J. Maillet who died August 19, 1987. She was also predeceased by her sons, Herve R.J. and Jean Paul J. Maillet; grandchildren, Randall, Matthew and Laura Lee Maillet, sisters, Eva Boucher and Madeleine Cormier; and brothers, Aime, Antoine, Anselme, Francois, Gerard and Jean-Baptiste Richard.

            She leaves her sons, Normand J. Maillet and his wife Marion of Athol; Ulysse J. Maillet of Winchendon; daughters, Aline M. Cosentino and her husband Donald of Gardner, and Cecile M. Danielson and her husband Chester of Clearwater, FL; foster daughter, Helen Butler of Gardner; daughter-in-law, Barbara Maillet of Gardner; 24 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren, 16 great-great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews.

            Funeral Services will be held Saturday, May 18th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in Annunciation Parish/Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery of Gardner.

            Calling hours will be held Friday, May 17th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
