Marie S. "Marraine" (LeBlanc) Leger, 94, of 14 Halford Street, Gardner, formerly of 81 Green Street, Gardner, died peacefully Tuesday, September 9th in her residence surrounded by her family.
Born in Bouctouche, N.B., Canada, on July 4, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Leon and Valentine (Hebert) LeBlanc.
Marie was an assembler employed by GEM Crib of Gardner for many years, retiring in 1973.
Marie was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, Gardner.
She enjoyed knitting, traveling, card playing and eating out in restaurants. Marie especially loved being with her family.
Marie was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Roy C. Leger, who died March 25, 1993.
She leaves two sisters, Rita Perry and Germaine Savoie of Gardner; two nieces, Marie Flamer-Phillips and her husband Ben of Gardner, with whom Marie lived, and Linda Penniman and her husband Scott of Lunenburg; a nephew, Peter Perry and his wife Antonella of Hubbardston; and several additional nieces, nephews, cousins, great nieces, and two great-great nieces. She was predeceased by four brothers, Alyre, Joseph, Peter and Fidele LeBlanc; and by three sisters, Irene Cook, Anna LeBlanc and Alice Vienneau.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 11th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, West Street, Gardner.
A calling hour in the funeral home will be Thursday, September 11th from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
