Marie C. (DesRoches) Eliason, 71, of 82 Prospect St., Gardner died unexpectedly Monday upon arrival at Heywood Hospital, Gardner, shortly after being stricken ill at home.
Born in Rumford, ME on October 7, 1932, she was the daughter of Pius and Alice (Boudreau) DesRoches.
She was a bookkeeper employed by Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, Gardner, for several years until retiring in 1998.
She was a 1950 graduate of Gardner High School.
Mrs. Eliason was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church and its Ladies of St. Anne Society. She enjoyed reading, gardening, collecting baskets, loved her grandchildren and enjoyed listening to country music.
Her husband of 25 years, John E. Eliason Jr. died in 1984.
She leaves 2 sons, Stephen J. Eliason of Winchendon and James L. Eliason of Bedford; 3 daughters, Deborah A. Eliason of Gloucester, Carol J. Hamilton of Westminster and Lisa A. Eliason of Holden; 3 sisters, Theresa DesRoches of Ashburnham, Doris Richards of Gardner, Rita Berube of Fitchburg; 5 grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a daughter, Jane M. Eliason who died in 1973 and a sister, Alice Thibeault who died in 1971.
Funeral services will be held Friday from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols St., Gardner with a Mass at 9:30 a.m. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols St., Gardner. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Gardner.
Calling hours at the funeral home are Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
