Maria de Lourdes Mayora de Sargent, "Luli", 45, of 19 Cherry Street, Gardner, died peacefully Saturday, September 23rd in her home surrounded by her family.
Born on March 26, 1961, in Guatemala, she was the daughter of Eduardo Mayora D. and Adelaida Alvarado de Mayora.
Lourdes was an Attorney and Teacher. She was most recently employed at Mount Wachusett Community College, Gardner, where she taught English as a second language. She was previously employed as a Court Interpreter in the Massachusetts Court System.
She was a 1979 graduate of Monte Maria School in Guatemala City, and a 1990 graduate of Landivar University/ Law School in Guatemala City. Lourdes received her Masters Degree in Intellectual Property Law from Franklin Pierce Law Center in Concord, N.H. in 1991.
She was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Gardner. She was also a member of the Rotaract Club of Guatemala and the Massachusetts Teachers Association.
Lourdes was a devoted wife and mother. She enjoyed listening to music. Lourdes touched many lives, she was loved and highly regarded by her students.
Besides her parents of Guatemala City, she leaves her husband of 14 years, Peter T. Sargent, Sr., Esq.; one son, Peter T. Sargent, Jr.; one daughter, Adelaide M. Sargent all of Gardner; 2 brothers, Eduardo Mayora A. and his wife Alicia, Luis Mayora A.; a sister, Micky Mayora de Lester and her husband Robert; one aunt, one uncle, several nieces nephews and cousins all of Guatemala City.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 28th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner, with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 166 Cross Street, Gardner. Burial will take place in Guatemala City, Guatemala.
Calling hours at the funeral home will be Wednesday, September 27th from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
