Maria Kotsonouri

Maria (Kanellis) Kotsonouri, 86, of Templeton, died peacefully Wednesday, November 24, 2021, in Heywood Hospital, Gardner, after an illness.

Born in Sparta, Greece, on May 20, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Ilias and Panagiota (Oikonomakou) Kanellis. Maria was a parishioner of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church of Fitchburg. She enjoyed baking, cooking, and cleaning. Maria also had a love for dancing, listening to music and singing. She was always joking around with family and friends. Maria was a homemaker whose greatest joy in life was her family.

Maria is survived by her four sons, Jimmy Kotsonouri and his wife Georgia of Greece, Louis Kushell and his wife Cynthia of North Carolina and Panos Kushell and his wife Kathy of North Carolina; a daughter Lena Theodorakakos and her husband Takis of Templeton; ten grandchildren, Christos, Maria, Niki, Evangelia, Giota, George, Vicky, Margarita, Yianni, and Pano; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by husband, Kosta Kotsonouri; two sisters, Efthimia and Stella; and two brothers, Vasilis and Themios.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, December 2, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. in Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 1319 Main Street, Fitchburg, MA. Burial will follow at Wildwood Cemetery, West Street, Gardner, MA.

A Calling Hour will be held Thursday, December 2, 2021, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the church.

All are asked to report directly to church on the day of the service.
