Maria D. Babineau

March 23, 1910 — November 13, 2008

Maria D. ((Robichaud) Babineau, 98, of 51 Hospital Rd., Baldwinville and formerly of 116 Church St., Gardner died peacefully Thursday, November 13th in the Baldwinville Nursing Home, Baldwinville, following a short illness.

Born in St. Marie, NB, Canada, on March 23, 1910, she was the daughter of Pierre and Eleanore (Maillet) Robichaud.

Maria was a stitcher employed by Kuniholm Manufacturing of Gardner, retiring several years ago.

She was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church. Marie was an avid knitter. She enjoyed playing cards and bingo. Marie especially loved her family.

Her husband of 43 years, Fred Babineau, died in 1980.

She leaves 2 daughters, Shirley M. Bourret and her husband Leo of Gardner, Fernande Landry and her husband Howard of Clinton, NY; two sisters-in-law, Elise Robichaud and Laura Robichaud both of Bouctouche, N.B. Canada; 7 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Arnold J. Babineau who died in 1994; 7 brothers, Neri, Emile, Adolphe, Edward, Arsene, William and Ernest Robichaud; and by 2 sisters, Josephine Kotoski and Edna Babineau.

Funeral services will be held Monday, November 17th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols St., Gardner, with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols St., Gardner. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Gardner, at a later date.

Calling hours in the funeral home are Sunday, November 16th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
