Marguerite M Salo

Marguerite M. “Maggie” (Gonyeo) Salo, 90, of Worcester, formerly a life long resident of Gardner, died peacefully Tuesday, October 2, 2018 in St. Mary’s Health Care of Worcester.

            Born in Gardner on September 1, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Stanley and Mary (Collins) Gonyeo.

            Marguerite graduated from Gardner High School with the Class of 1946. She spent her life as a homemaker caring for her family.

            She enjoyed crafts, was a collector of knick-knacks and loved to listen to her police scanner. Marguerite was also an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox, and in her early years loved ballroom dancing.

            Marguerite was predeceased by her husband of twelve years, Carl Salo, who died in 1961; and by her daughter, Mary (Salo) Schindler, who died in 2007.

            She leaves three grandchildren, Carla Hess, Marc Schindler and Jesse Schindler; six  great-grandchildren, Amanda, Sarah, Ashleigh, Gage, Phillip and Trygg; four great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

            Services will be at the convenience of the family.    

            There are no calling hours.

            Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.

            Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner is handling the arrangements.
