Mamie H. (Bezio) Montville, 73, of Gardner, died peacefully Saturday, August 26, 2017 in the Highlands of Fitchburg, following an illness.
Mamie was born in Charlestown, South Carolina on August 31, 1943, the daughter of the late Henry and Gertrude (Souza) Bezio.
She was a 1961 graduate of Gardner High School. Mamie was employed by Ken Stewart Transmission of Gardner as the bookkeeper for 20 years, retiring in 2010. She was previously employed by C.H. Hartshorn Furniture Co. of Gardner, the Worcester Telegram and Gazette, and was also the neighborhood babysitter in the 1980's.
Mamie was a member of Holy Spirit Church of Gardner.
She enjoyed playing the slot machines at Foxwoods, Atlantic City and Los Vegas. She loved Square Dancing, was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. In the 1970's she enjoyed long road trips to Florida and the Dakota's. Mamie was a strong willed woman who was known for driving a large station wagon, despite her small stature. She was involved with Cub Scout Pack 2, for over 20 years with her husband Ray, as a Den Mother and held many offices in Monadnock Council Boy Scouts of America.
Mamie was predeceased by her husband of 47 years, Raymond S. Montville, who died August 4, 2012.
She leaves three sons, James P. Montville and his wife Thomina S. of Winchendon, Thomas M. Montville of Gardner, and Daniel J. Montville of Austin, TX; four grandchildren, Jessie T. Montville, Robert J. Montville, Thomas D. Montville and Alicia M. Montville; niece, Cassandra Laverty, sister-in-law, Denise Strom; three cousins, Dennis D'Ambroise, Ray Laliberte and Giselle Mongeon. She also leaves her caretaker, Robert Robichaud of Leominster. Mamie was predeceased by her granddaughter, Nora S. Montville; and sister, Rosie Bezio.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, September 1st from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Holy Spirit Church, 50 Lovewell Street, Gardner. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, West Street, Gardner.
A calling hour will be held Friday, September 1st from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
