Madeleine J. "Maddie" Melanson

Madeleine J. "Maddie" (Cormier) Melanson, 81, of Gardner died peacefully Saturday, May 13, 2017 in Heywood Hospital of Gardner, surrounded by her family.
Born in Gardner on November 3, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Edgar and Laudia (Richard) Cormier.
Madeleine was employed by the Internal Revenue Service of Fitchburg as a Lead for many years retiring in 2009, and she truly loved her IRS family. Madeleine was previously employed by Thayer Manufacturing Company and J.C. Penney. She was also a teacher's aide at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary School of Gardner.
Madeleine graduated from Our Lady of the Mount Academy of Gorham, NH with the Class of 1953.
She was a member of Annunciation Parish/Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church of Gardner.
Madeleine enjoyed playing Bingo, playing cards and trips to the casino. She loved spending time with her family, she took great pride in watching her grandchildren's sporting events, and she loved her yearly vacations in Maine .
Madeleine leaves her husband of 61 years, Arthur Melanson of Gardner; four daughters, Sue M. Arsenault of Gardner, Janet M. Jalbert and her significant other, Frank Murphy of Gardner, Deb A. Rahaim and her husband Michael of Westminster, and Judy R. Flanagan and her significant other, Rick Gravelle of Gardner; one brother, Richard Cormier and his wife Claire of Orwell, Vermont; two sisters, Theresa Violette and her husband Ray of Templeton and Anne Marie Roberts of Gardner; twelve grandchildren, Lisa, Craig and Matthew Arsenault, Jessica Currier, Melissa and Becky Jalbert, Aaron and Amy Hanks, Amber Jarvis, Robert Rahaim, Kevin and Kyle Flanagan; ten great-grandchildren, Zachary, Kayli and Averie Arsenault, Joshua and Jacey Currier, Coby, Sofia, Hannah and Hunter Hanks and Harley Jarvis; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by one brother, Roland Cormier; and by two sisters, Lorraine Healey and Doris Prinn.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, May 18th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Annunciation Parish/Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Gardner.
Calling hours will be held Wednesday, May 17th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
