Lucy D. (Jaillet) Girouard, 94, of 19 City Hall Ave., Gardner, died Monday, February 4th in the Baldwinville Nursing Home, Baldwinville, following a short illness.
Born in Gardner on December 7, 1913, she was the daughter of John and Annie (Mooney) Jaillet.
She was an assistant manager at Beaconway Fabrics of Gardner for 5 years. She was an upholsterer previously employed by R. Smith Upholstering Co. of Gardner, retiring in 1975.
Mrs. Girouard was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, its Ladies of St. Anne Society, A.A.R.P. and the Golden Agers. She enjoyed watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. Lucy was a loyal fan of the Boston Red Sox, the Boston Celtics and she occasionally bowled and played golf. She was proud of her knitting and crocheting. She also enjoyed playing cards, bingo and traveling. However, her greatest love was for her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Her husband of 53 years, Louis J. Girouard, died in 1988.
She leaves 2 sons, Eugene A. Girouard and his wife Elizabeth of Winchendon, Philip L. Girouard and his wife Sue of Gardner; 1 daughter, Helen L. Howe and her husband George of Gardner; 10 grandchildren, Brendon J. and Bradley S. Howe, Cynthia L. Soucie, Michael L. Girouard, Jean M. Miller, Steven D. Girouard, Colleen E. Girouard-League, Matthew E., Christopher P. and John A. Girouard; 13 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by 3 brothers, Edmond, Cleo, and Francis Jaillet and 4 sisters, Viola Therriault, Lydia Abare, Estelle Jaillet and Irene Graves.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 9th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols St., Gardner with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols St., Gardner. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Gardner.
Calling hours at the funeral home are Friday, February 8th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
