Louise E. Knapp, 71, of Baldwinville, died peacefully Tuesday, February 21, 2017 in Fitchburg Gardens Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, following an illness.
Born in Worcester on September 25, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Col. LeRoy A. and Harriet (Allen) Knapp.
Louise graduated from Belle Glade High School of Belle Glade, Florida in 1964. She attended the University of Steubenville of Steubenville, Ohio, and received her Nursing Degree from St. Vincent Hospital School of Nursing School of Worcester. In her early years, she was a Registered Nurse employed by Holden Hospital and Clinton Hospital, and also was a Private Caregiver.
She was United States Vietnam War Air Force Veteran who served as a Nurse in the United States Air Force Hospital from 1972 through 1974, and received the National Defense Service Medal.
Louise was most recently employed by the Internal Revenue Service of Fitchburg as a Data Entry Clerk for several years.
Louise loved flowers, kitties and painting with pastels. She was a collector of memorable souvenirs, beanie babies and American Girl items. She enjoyed watching her favorite game shows, 'Family Feud' and 'Jeopardy' with her niece Christine. Her nieces and nephews were her world, and she adored them all. Louise kept impeccable records of her family heritage, which she loved to share with family and they will now treasure. She will be remembered for her beautiful heart and lovely singing voice.
Louise was a member of the Templeton Council on Aging.
She leaves one sister, Priscilla C. Church of Gardner; five nieces, Christine F. Knapp, Sandra E. Cude and her husband John, Petty Officer First Class Rebecca M. Church of the U.S. Navy and her husband Genaro Gazca, Jr., Martha A. Church and Marcelle M. Goyette; one nephew, Nathaniel L. Church; several great nieces, great nephews, one great-great niece and several great-great nephews.
Funeral Services and burial will be held Friday, March 3rd at 2:00 p.m. in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen Street, Winchendon.
There are no calling hours. Friends and family are asked to report directly to the Cemetery the afternoon of the service.
