Louis J. "Big Louis" LeBlanc, 71, of 79 Baldwinville Road, Templeton, died Friday, May 30, 2014 in Heywood Hospital, Gardner, following a brief illness.
Louis was born in St. Damien, N.B. Canada on September 16, 1942, the son of the late Henri and Aurore (Leger) LeBlanc.
He was employed by Wilson Bus Lines of Templeton as a bus driver for several years, retiring in 1999. He was previously employed by the Templeton Developmental Center and the City of Gardner Water and Sewer Department.
Louis was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church of Gardner.
He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. He loved animals, especially his dogs "Cookie", "Betsy Ross" and "Bootie".
Louis was a member of the Acadien Social Club of Gardner, Club 25 of Gardner and the Templeton Fish and Game Club, Inc. of Templeton. He was also the time-keeper for several Gardner Ice Hockey Leagues.
He leaves his companion of 35 years, Sandra L. Johnson of Templeton; three brothers, Cleo LeBlanc of Gardner, Leo LeBlanc of Gardner and Herve LeBlanc and his wife Alice of Gardner; four sisters, Jeannita Richard and her husband David of Gardner, Corinne Bouchard and her husband Roger of Gardner, Bertha Prentiss of Gardner and Annette Melanson and her husband Victor of Gardner; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Graveside Services will be held Thursday, June 5th at 2:00 p.m. in Notre Dame Cemetery, West Street, Gardner.
A calling hour will be Thursday, June 5th from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner.
Memorial contributions may be made to Gardner Animal Control Facility, with checks made payable to City of Gardner Shelter Fund, c/o Board of Health, 95 Pleasant Street, Gardner, MA 01440.
