Lorraine M. (LeBlanc) Bastarache, 81, of Gardner, passed away peacefully Thursday, November 30, 2017, following a lengthy battle with dementia, with her loving family by her side.
Lorraine was born on September 16, 1936 in Bouctouche, New Brunswick, Canada, the daughter of the late Alderic and Odila (Girouard) LeBlanc.
Lorraine worked for many years as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Gardner Manor Nursing Home and Wachusett Manor Nursing Home, where she was awarded "Employee of the Year" in 1989.
She was a devoted member of Annunciation Parish/Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church and Sacred Heart of Jesus Church of Gardner.
Lorraine enjoyed line dancing, flea markets, and being a member of 'Silver Sneakers'. She treasured every moment spent with her beloved family; and her grandchildren were truly her pride and joy. Lorraine will always be remembered for her beautiful smile and contagious laugh, which everyone loved.
She was predeceased by her husband of 25 years, Harvey Bastarache, who died in 1980.
She leaves three daughters, Aline Ward and her husband Larry of West Falmouth, Jeanette Perry of Winchendon, and Ann M. Richard and her husband Bruce of Gardner; brother, Desire LeBlanc and his wife Anna of Bouctouche, N.B., Canada; sister, Muriel Vautour and her husband Frederic of Cap-Pele, N.B. Canada; six grandchildren, Daniel Ward and his wife Tina, Christopher Ward and his wife Caitlin, Thomas Perry, Jr., Ashley Perry, Tyler Perry and Brandi Richard; two great-grandchildren, Sophia and Anja Ward; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Lorraine was predeceased by her son-in-law, Thomas Perry who died November 27, 2017; five sisters, Ronalda LeBlanc, Noella Legere, Jeanette Goguen, Marie Paul LeBlanc and Stella Savoie.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, December 9th at 11:00 a.m. in Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, West Street, Gardner.
A calling hour will be held Saturday, December 9th from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Wachusett Manor Nursing Home, Activity Fund, 32 Hospital Hill Road, Gardner, MA 01440. Please reference in memory of Lorraine M. Bastarache.
Lorraine's family wishes to extend a heartfelt 'thank you' to Dr. Murphy and all the nurses, CNA's and hospice staff of Wachusett Manor Nursing Home for their exceptional care during the past few years.
