Loretta D. (LeBlanc) Shepard, 87, of 470 West Street, Gardner, died peacefully June 6, 2007 in the Leo P. LaChance Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing, Gardner, following a brief illness.
She was born in Bridgton, Maine on July 23, 1919, the daughter of the late Henry F. and Bibienne (Maillet) LeBlanc
Mrs. Shepard was a stitcher employed by Hartshorn Manufacturing Company of Gardner for ten years, retiring in 1992.
Loretta was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, Gardner. She was a seamstress, and her hobbies included quilting, crocheting and knitting. Loretta enjoyed cooking for family and friends. She was also an avid Boston Red Sox fan
Mrs. Shepard was predeceased by her husband of 26 years, Robert K. Sheppard, Sr., who died December 27, 1968.
She leaves one son, Robert K. Shepard, Jr and his wife Judith of Gardner; two daughters, Judith F. Wilson and her husband Thomas of Bradenton, FL and Marcia A. Wilk of Charlotte, NC; 1 sister, Evangeline M. LeBlanc of Gardner; 7 grandchildren Donna Long of Bradford, NH, Robyn Shepard of Melrose, MA, Heather Wilk of Charlotte, NC, Lt. Carl Wilk of Eglin Air Force Base, Ft. Walton Beach, FL, Cindy Wilson, Huntsville, AL, Timothy Wilson of Chertsey, England and Jennifer Gaugler of Yorktown, VA; 5 great-grandchildren, Sarah Long, Jacob Long, Alan Wilson, Connor Gaugler and Mackenna Gaugler; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. She also leaves a special sister-in-law, Jean Erickson of Gardner. She was predeceased by a brother, Aurele LeBlanc.
A memorial Mass will be held on Friday, June 29th at 9:30 am in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner. Burial will be in Greenbower Cemetery, Gardner.
