Lodina R."Peto" Murray

Lodina R. "Peto" (Vermette) Murray, 90, of 60 Orchard Lane, E. Templeton, died peacefully Monday, December 31st in Heywood Hospital, Gardner, following a short illness.

Born in Gardner on March 7, 1917, she was the daughter of Onesiphore and Adelaide (Martin) Vermette.

She was a packer employed by Simplex Time Recorder Co. of Gardner for 15 years until retiring in 1982. She was previously employed by the former Heywood Wakefield Co. of Gardner for 25 years.

She was a member of Holy Cross Church in East Templeton. Mrs. Murray enjoyed bowling, knitting, gardening, yard work, cooking and especially loved her family. Lodina's love, strength, pragmatism, generosity, wit and style inspired her grandchildren. She always gave encouragement and support during hard times. She also gave her grandchildren valuable words of wisdom, such as: "work hard and drink little to live a long life." Her grandchildren feel blessed that she was in their lives, and will miss her deeply.

Her husband of 52 years, Lester E. Murray, died in 1989.

She leaves a daughter-in-law, Theresa Vinetti of Troy, NY; 4 grandchildren, Lodina Slawecki of Santa Clara, CA, Matthew Vinetti of Watervliet, NY, Colleen Vinetti of Andover, MA; Carla Jo Vinetti of Albany, NY; 4 great-grandchildren, Jeremy, David, and Michael Vinetti, and Glen Slawecki; one great-great-grandchild, Ayden Vinetti; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a son, Glenn Vinetti, a brother, Onesiphore Vermette, a half-brother, Jeffrey Dube and 3 sisters, Betty Nell, Angie Larose and Helen Peters.

Funeral services will be held Friday, January 4th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols St., Gardner with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in Holy Cross Church, 25 Lake Avenue, E. Templeton. Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery, Gardner.

Calling hours at the funeral home are Thursday, January 3rd from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
