Lionel J Cormier

Lionel J. Cormier, 88, of 125 Connors Street, Gardner and formerly of Pleasant Street, Gardner died Saturday, March 19, 2011 in Legend Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing, Gardner following a long illness, with his wife by his side.
He was born in Richibucto Village, N.B. Canada on November 29, 1922, the son of the late Edward and Emma (Allain) Cormier.
Lionel was a Truck Driver employed by New England Furniture Express of South Gardner for 9 years, retiring in 1986. He was previously employed by Goguen Transportation of Gardner.
Lionel was a Private in the Canadian Army, and served during WWII in Canada and England.
He was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, Gardner. He was also a member and past Director of the Acadien Social Club of Gardner, the Templeton Fish and Game Club, Templeton, the Gardner Golden Agers and Two Hearts As One Square Dancing.
Lionel enjoyed playing cards and spending time with his family.
He leaves his wife of 66 years, Lena M. (LeBlanc) Cormier of Gardner; one stepbrother, Gerald Thibodeau of Richibucto Village, N.B. Canada; three great-grandchildren, Maison J., Haylie S. and Kaydince Cormier of Winchendon; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Lionel was predeceased by one son, Rheal J. Cormier who died in 1986; one daughter, Diane M. Cormier who died in 1963; three brothers, Zoel J. Cormie, Eymard Cormier and Eric Cormier, and by one grandson, Justin J. Cormier who died February 20, 2011.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 24th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Gardner.
Calling hours in the funeral home will be Wednesday, March 23rd from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
