Lillian D. (Hamel) Giampa, 80, of 105 Champagne Rd., Gardner, died Sunday, March 27th in UMASS Memorial Healthcare, Worcester, following an illness. She was formerly of Phillipston where she lived for 40 years until relocating to Gardner in 1992.
Born in Fitchburg on August 9, 1924, she was the daughter of Albericque and Bella (Raymond) Hamel.
She was an assembler employed by Simplex Time Recorder Co. of Gardner for several years, retiring in 1985. She was an L.P.N. previously employed by the former Gardner State Hospital.
She was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church.
Mrs. Giampa enjoyed gardening, cooking and especially loved her grandchildren.
Her husband of 38 years, Emilio M. Giampa, died in 1987.
She leaves 2 sons, Joseph L. Giampa and wife Elaine of Phillipston, Dana J. Giampa and wife Diane of Millbury; 2 daughters, Rosemarie A. Haley and husband Robert of Templeton, Patricia L. Iwanski and husband Edward of Toms River, NJ; a dear friend Albert Marion of Gardner; 14 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by 3 brothers, Louis, Roger and Henry Hamel and 1 sister, Anita Lajoie.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 30th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols St., Gardner with a Mass at 9:30 a.m. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols St., Gardner. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Gardner.
Calling hours at the funeral home are Tuesday, March 29th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
