Leonard L. Jalbert, 78, of 167 Snake Pond Road, Gardner, died peacefully Thursday, August 7, 2014 in his residence, following a long illness.
Leonard was born in St. Basile, N.B., Canada on June 28, 1936, the son of the late Edward and Anita (Martin) Jalbert.
He was a carpenter employed by LaChance Construction for 30 years, retiring in 2002.
Leonard was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church of Gardner.
He loved spending time hunting in Maine with his brothers. He also enjoyed playing cribbage and horseshoes. Leonard treasured time spent with his family.
He was a member of the West End Beagle Club of Gardner and the Deep Sea Club of Gardner.
Leonard was predeceased by his wife of 56 years, Constance G. (Lavertue) Jalbert, who died October 25, 2012.
He leaves one son, John Jalbert of Gardner; one daughter, Lisa B. Johnson and her husband Ronald of Orange; eight brothers, Barthy Jalbert and his wife Gerene of Gardner, Reno Jalbert and his wife Annette of Gardner, Ronald Jalbert and his wife Gloria of Otter River, Fern Jalbert and his wife Carla of Gardner, Bert Jalbert and his wife Martha of Gardner, Martin Jalbert and his significant other, Karen of Gardner, Richard Jalbert and his significant other, Brenda of Gardner and Jacques Jalbert and his wife Kathy of Winchendon; three sisters, Pierrette Stiles of Gardner, Germaine Clavette and her husband Roland of CT and Lorraine Bosse of Gardner; three grandchildren, Matthew Robinson and his wife Heather, Andrew Robinson and his wife Shannon, and Dakota Jalbert; five great-grandchildren, Seth Robinson, Ethan Robinson, Deven Robinson, Alyssa Robinson and Andrew Robinson, Jr.; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by two brothers, Normand Jalbert and Armand Jalbert.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, August 11th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Gardner.
Calling hours will be Sunday, August 10th from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
