Leona M. (Surette) Rousseau, 86, of 125 Connors Street, Gardner, died Tuesday, December 29th in Heywood Hospital, Gardner, following a brief illness.
Born in Rogersville, N.B. Canada on November 22, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Narcisse and Mary (DesRoches) Surette.
Leona was employed by Leo Richard Catering as a cafeteria worker at Mount Wachusett Community College, Gardner for 13 years, retiring in 1987. She was previously employed by Rousseau Brothers of Gardner.
Leona was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, Gardner. She was also a member of the Gardner Chapter of A.A.R.P.
She enjoyed traveling, word puzzles and "coffee hour" at the Binall House. Her greatest enjoyment came from spending time with her family.
Leona was predeceased by her husband of 33 years, Robert Rousseau, who died May 4, 1987.
She leaves one daughter, Carrie A. Forleo and her husband Richard of Merrimack, NH; one brother, Peter Surette of St. John's, N.B. Canada; two grandchildren, Benjamin Forleo and Lindsey Forleo; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by four brothers, Albert, Clarence, John and Leo Surette and by two sisters, Euphemie Bastarache and Alda Savoie.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 7th with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner. Burial will be in Village Cemetery, Fitzwilliam, N.H.
