Leona R."'Cookie"" O'Brien

Leona R. "Cookie" (Hayden) O'Brien, 48, of 172 Manca Drive, Gardner died Saturday, October 29, 2011 in her residence surrounded by family following a long battle with cancer.
She was born in Hanford, CA on November 23, 1962, the daughter of Boyd Hayden and Gail (Austin) Hayden.
Leona was a Dispatcher employed by Woods Ambulance of Gardner for six years.
She was a member of Higher Ground Ministries of Gardner.
Leona enjoyed spending time at Old Orchard Beach in Maine, playing Bingo at Foxwood's and watching Trinity Broadcasting Network on television. She loved sports and was an avid fan of the New England Patriots, the Boston Bruins and NASCAR - and idolized Tony Stewart.
Leona leaves her mother, Gail (Austin) Hayden of Gardner; her father, Boyd Hayden of Hanford, CA; her husband, Ricky O'Brien of Florida; two sons, Derek Hayden of Gardner and Sean McInerney of Gardner; three step-daughters, Sarah O'Brien of Fitchburg, Melissa O'Brien of Fitchburg and Kimberly O'Brien of Winterpark, FL; two sisters, Michelle Hayden of Gardner and Kim Mannion and her husband Eric of Phillipston; four grandchildren, Derek Hayden, Jr. of Gardner, Kai Tippawong of Gardner, Ayana Watson of Gardner and Alexandria Dobson of Fitchburg; one aunt, Sheila Miettinen of Gardner; two uncles, Nelson Austin of Gardner and Larry Austin of Jaffrey, NH; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, November 4th at 10:00 a.m. in Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner. Reverend Brian Richard of Higher Ground Ministries will officiate. Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery, Gardner.
A calling hour in the funeral home will be Friday, November 4th from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
At the request of the family, memorial contributions may be made to the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., PO Box 455, Gardner, MA 01440 to assist with Leona's funeral expenses.
